The air crackled with anticipation as the stars descended upon PVR-INOX (South City) for a special screening of Tekka, starring Dev, Rukmini Maitra and Swastika Mukherjee. The evening was graced by the leading duo, charismatic Dev and the ever-charming Rukmini Maitra, along with other members of Team Tekka and their friends and colleagues from the film industry.

Directed by Srijit Mukherji, Tekka is a gripping tale of a man driven by anger and frustration. Dev portrays the intense character of Iqlakh, a man from humble beginnings, who yearns for justice against the societal disparities that have plagued him. Fired from his job, Iqlakh embarks on a daring mission: to secure his rightful position by orchestrating a high-stakes kidnapping. Rukmini Maitra, in her role as the resolute police officer Maya, is the epitome of courage and determination. Tasked with rescuing the abducted child, she engages in a tense negotiation with a determined Iqlakh, who has taken refuge in a towering skyscraper. As the plot unfolds, the film delves into the complexities of human emotions, societal injustice, and the lengths one might go to seek retribution. With its gripping narrative and stellar performances, Tekka has resonated with audiences.

Dev looked charming as always in a distressed grey sweatshirt. “This Durga Puja, Tekka has received lots of love and appreciation so we are very happy as a team. There were several houseful shows consecutively. Tekka connected with the audience because of the subject that we don’t see in Bengali films. You never really know what specifically connects with the audience; it might be the plot, music or cinematography. As an actor, there is nothing better than your audience loving you even when you are so far away from your comfort zone. As a producer, I am very happy,” said Dev.

Talking about Rukmini’s performance in the film, he said, “I am very happy, of course. She is one of the finest actors we have. Over the years she has groomed herself after every movie. Today’s show has been organised for near and dear ones who did not get the time to watch the film during Durga Puja.”

Rukmini, who has been enjoying her success spree with Boomerang and now Tekka, looked gorgeous in a silver pantsuit. She said, “I love pantsuits, they are very breezy and I wanted to be a little bit of Maya today, of course with the glam!” As we asked her about the “glow of success" on her face, she agreed and added, “Tekka has become a blockbuster hit and it makes me very happy. There are so many good reviews and Maya has received so much love. Some have even called her the hero of the film. I am ecstatic at the moment. You are right... it is the glow of success and love of the audience.”

Talking about how she spent Durga Puja this time, she said, “Well, it began with Tekka with a bang... and then there was the Ashtami anjali. Post that I went to Croatia for a holiday because I really feel that everyone needs their me-time. I see travel as a very humbling process,” said the actress.
