Shriman vs Shrimati is a “heartwarming romantic comedy” centred around the lives of individuals, exploring love, relationships, and the complexities of marriage. The narrative follows Justice Amal Chowdhury, a highly respected judge renowned for his firm belief in preserving marriages. He becomes famous for never granting divorces to couples seeking separation in his courtroom. When a couple, Sourav and Amrita, approach him for a divorce, Chowdhury assigns them a unique task of role reversal, successfully rekindling their relationship.

However, Sourav soon discovers that the esteemed judge has ironically been entangled in his own divorce proceedings for the past 27 years, making it the longest-running divorce case in India. Moved by Chowdhury’s predicament, Sourav pledges to help him reconcile with his estranged wife, Aparna. Together, the two men concoct a series of amusing and heartfelt plans to win back Aparna’s affection.

The film blends elements of humour, romance, and deep emotional connections, while also highlighting the generational differences in perspectives on marriage and relationships.

Basu says that Mithun Chakraborty and Anjan Dutt share a great rapport and that’s being transcended on screen as well. “It’s a huge responsibility to have such big actors in the movie. We have kept both their on-screen images in mind while shooting for it. Anjanda was very excited to share screen space with Mithunda. They are a delight to work with. Both actors respect each other. Since they will be seen together for the first time, expectations from the film have increased. Interestingly, both actors began their careers with Mrinal Sen’s films,” adds Basu.
