Nine years ago the office para at Dalhousie had woken up to the sounds of “lights, camera and action”. The crew of Praktan had set up the camera and Prosenjit and Rituparna Sengupta had breezily walked past Calcutta landmarks. Something similar panned out on Wednesday morning around 10am. Only this time, all eyes — of the curious onlookers — were on Rakhee and her gang of girls as they shot for the film Aamar Boss (directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee) in front of Victoria Memorial.

The veteran actress was seen gorging on phuchkas on a fun-filled day out with actors Sauraseni Maitra, Aishwarya Sen, Uma Banerjee, Averi Singha Roy and Shruti Das. “We were there for two hours and Rakheedi had around 30 phuchkas. It was something about the place and the food in front of her. Memories came rushing back. She was very happy. She asked us to take a picture of her in front of the statue of the lion, and then she started singing the song, Shingh nei tobu naam tar shingho,” said Shiboprosad.

It was a very special day for the director duo too. “She is a legend and there are so many memories of Indian cinema associated with her. It was a huge takeaway for us. She has bonded really well with the other actors, and given each a nickname. She is also part of the girl gang; they have exchanged phone numbers and they talk to each other after the shoot. Also, this is the best time to shoot movies. The weather is perfect. We have shot all our movies since 2011 in the winter. Today’s shoot also reminded us of our Praktan days at Dalhousie,” added Shiboprosad.
