How to Train Your Dragon follows Hiccup, a young Viking who befriends a dragon named Toothless and defies his tribe’s rules. The duo start working together to unite Vikings and dragons.

Butler plays Stoick, father of Hiccup, in the upcoming movie. A determined Viking leader trying to raise his son on his own, Stoick deeply cares for his son and eventually undergoes a transformation in his perception of dragons.

Marc Platt will be producing the live-action How to Train Your Dragon adaptation under his own banner alongside Adam Siegel. Lexi Barta from VP Production will supervise the film for Universal Pictures.

Apart from the upcoming live-action adaptation, Butler will feature in the sequel to his 2018 action movie Den of Thieves, slated to hit theatres later this year.
