The 48th People’s Choice Awards nominations are in, and some of the biggest stars of Hollywood are in the fray for the film category awards this year. Tom Cruise, Gal Gadot, Brad Pitt, Ryan Reynolds and Florence Pugh feature among the nominees for the awards, to be given away at an event hosted by actor-comedian Kenan Thompson on December 6.
Tom Cruise has bagged two nominations — Male Movie Star of 2022 and Action Movie Star of 2022— for the sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick, directed by Joseph Kosinski. Brad Pitt is up against Tom Cruise in the Male Movie Star of 2022 category for the film Bullet Train. Ryan Reynolds has also made it to the nominations in this category for The Adam Project in addition to a nomination in the Comedy Movie Star of 2022 category.
Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is leading among the ladies with two nominations for Death on the Nile — Female Star of 2022 and Drama Movie Star of 2022. Other nominees in the aforementioned categories are Elizabeth Olsen, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Lopez, Joey King, Keke Palmer, Queen Latifah and Viola Davis.
Don’t Worry Darling stars Harry Styles and Florence Pugh have been nominated for the Drama Movie Star of 2022. Bullet Train star Joey King is a nominee in two categories — Female Movie Star of 2022 and Action Movie Star of 2022.
Voting for the awards has already started on the People’s Choice Awards website. Audiences will get to vote 25 times a day for each category until November 9.
The People’s Choice Awards 2022 ceremony, which will take place at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, will air live on NBC and E! at 6.30am IST. The award function is also likely to be available for streaming on select OTT platforms for viewers in India.
