A Friends-themed game show featuring elements from the sets of the long-running American sitcom is in the making. Titled Fast Friends, the show is set to begin filming in October, the US media reported a day after Friends completed 30 years.
The four-episode game show will be filmed inside The Friends Experience: The One in New York, an interactive exhibit designed for fans of the hit TV show in New York, featuring iconic sets from the show.
“From racing through Rachel and Monica’s apartment to darting across Joey and Chandler’s bachelor pad and grabbing a coffee at Central Perk, fans will relive their favourite moments while being put to the test with trivia, puzzles and games that will keep even the most die-hard ‘Friends’ fans on their toes,” Warner Bros. Studios said in a press release sent to the US media.
Fast Friends is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in collaboration with Warner Horizon. It is executive produced by Dan Sacks, Bridgette Theriault and Dan Norris. Richard Burgio serves as the co-executive producer on the show.
Friends is now streaming on Max, following its 30th anniversary celebration on Monday. The streaming platform marked the milestone by announcing that all episodes of the beloved sitcom are now available in 4K resolution. “Feels like just yesterday. Always there for you. Celebrate 30 years of #Friends now streaming on Max,” they wrote in the description of a throwback video on YouTube.
Friends ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. It followed a group of friends — played by Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer — who navigate the ups and downs of their lives in New York.
In 2021, the cast and showrunners reunited after more than a decade in the docu special Friends: The Reunion, which streamed on HBO Max. They discussed the enduring legacy of their show and their favourite moments on set in the special episode.
Friends is available to stream on Netflix.
