Actress Emma Watson has been roped in for Greta Gerwig’s Little Women. The Hollywood Reporter said the Beauty and the Beast and Harry Potter star will replace Emma Stone and share screen space with Meryl Streep in the big screen adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott classic. The film also reunites Gerwig with her debut directorial Lady Bird actors Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet. The story follows sisters Amy, Jo, Beth and Meg and their mother in Civil War-era Massachusetts as they navigate first love and their first holiday without their father.
The cast of Top Gun: Maverick has become bigger with actors Jom Hamm and Ed Harris coming aboard. Tom Cruise, who fronted the original 1986 action drama, is set to reprise his role of aviator Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. The film, to be directed by Joseph Kosinski from a script by Peter Craig, will explore Maverick’s time in the modern military as he tries to adjust in the world of drones and modern tech. Hamm, 47, and Harris, 67, join Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly and Val Kilmer in the project, reported Deadline. However, their character details have not been revealed as of yet. The film’s cast also includes Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez and Monica Barbaro in supporting roles.
Actor Samuel L. Jackson could be set for a dramatic return to the Star Wars franchise. The 69-year-old said he would be totally “down” to reprise f his role as Mace Windu, whom he played in Star Wars in Episodes I-III. The character died in Revenge of the Sith after losing an arm and getting thrown through a window during a fight with Palpatine. Jackson said: “You know, it’s not that crazy that Jedi can fall from great heights and survive. And how many one-handed people are roaming about in that galaxy? Quite a few… I’ve still got the old Jedi spirit. I’m down.”
Actor Dominic Monaghan has joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode XI. The actor, 41, best known for his role in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings, has been vocal about his dream of starring in a Star Wars film, says The Hollywood Reporter. The film reunites Monaghan with Lost creator and executive producer, J.J. Abrams, who co-wrote and is directing the film. The details of his character have not been revealed by the studio. Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver are expected to return. This is Abrams’s return as director — he helmed Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and was asked to come back to direct the latest instalment after Colin Trevorrow exited the project following creative differences.
Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson has refused to confirm or deny her relationship with model and actress Cara Delevingne. “I think it’s the best way in any relationship,” the 28-year-old told People Now. “I’ve always been very private about them, and I think it’s just better.” Benson was photographed kissing Delevingne, 26, in London’s Heathrow airport. Waiting for a taxi, they reportedly kissed multiple times, and Delevingne had her arm wrapped around Benson.
