The first-look poster of Srijit Mukherji’s highly-anticipated cop universe thriller Dawshom Awbotaar has been unveiled. The motion poster showcases the looks of Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Jisshu Sengupta and Jaya Ahsan, promising a suspenseful thriller.

The poster is presented like a puzzle, featuring the four lead actors and the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu, consisting of bow and arrow (Lord Rama), Fish (Matsya), Lion-Man (Narasimha), Axe (Parasurama), Buddhist Prayer Wheel (Lord Buddha), Chess Horse (Kalki), Bonsai Plant (Vamana), Boar (Varaha), Tortoise (Kurma) and peacock feather (Lord Krishna).

Dawshom Awbotaar is a prequel to two of Srijit’s previous hits, Baishe Srabon and Vinci Da, and brings together the two main characters, both cops, from the two films — Prabir Roy Chowdhury, played by Prosenjit in Baishe Srabon; and Bijoy Poddar, played by Anirban in Vinci Da. Jisshu and Jaya are new faces in this cop universe.

While Prosenjit sports the iconic French-cut beard of Prabir Roy Chowdhury in the poster, Anirban’s look bears resemblance to his character Khoka in Dwitiyo Purush, fuelling speculation if Dawshom Awbotaar will have any bearing to the events of the 2020 thriller directed by Srijit.

Jisshu’s character has wavy hair and bold-frame glasses, while Jaya looks enigmatic in a brown jacket over a black dress. Anupam Roy — who had composed the music for Baishe Srabon and Vinci Da — reunites with Srijit after Dwitiyo Purush to score the music for Dawshom Awbotaar.

Jointly produced by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment, Dawshom Awbotaar will hit cinemas on October 20 on the occasion of Durga Puja. The film will be the Autograph director’s first Puja release in four years; Gumnaami was his last film to release during Durga Puja, in 2019.
