Arindam Sil has started the shoot of his new series, Unishe April, which is "inspired by an incident that rocked the city in the 1970s". “It was a much-talked-about controversial incident. Our story is about a love affair gone wrong, a forced marriage and a case of a mysterious death. Our story does not aim to defame anyone... there was considerable research done,” says Sil, who is tight-lipped about the series right now.
The title of Arindam Sil’s series understandably is a tribute to Rituparno Ghosh (Ghosh’s second feature film was Unishe April, starring Aparna Sen and Debasree Roy). Sil's Unishe April is a mystery drama set in contemporary times. Unishe April, starring Arifin Shuvoo (from Bangladesh), Arunima Ghosh, Sauraseni Maitra, Indrasish Roy and more, will stream on the upcoming OTT platform of Camellia Productions. Arunima plays an actress while Sauraseni plays a cop. “I have been wanting to work with Arifin for a long time now but somehow it wasn’t happening. The jinx is finally broken now,” says Sil.
