Two movies by Indian filmmakers will feature in Cannes Film Festival’s lineup for its Directors’ Fortnight and Acid sections.

Karan Kandhari’s debut feature film Sister Midnight is set to premiere at Directors' Fortnight. Starring Radhika Apte and Ashok Pathak, the film is produced by Alastair Clark of Wellington Films in collaboration with Filmgate Films, Sean Wheelan and Film i Väst.

The Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, running from May 15 to May 25, will not only feature thought-provoking films but also introduce an audience award for the first time. Named after the late Belgian director Chantal Akerman, the prize aims to celebrate outstanding filmmaking and engage audiences in the festival experience.

Maisam Ali’s feature film In Retreat has been selected for the Acid section of the Cannes Film Festival. This section, managed by the Association for the Diffusion of Independent Cinema in France (ACID), highlights unique and independent films from around the world.

Earlier this month, Payal Kapadia’s debut feature film All We Imagine as Light was selected for screening in the competition section at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Additionally, Sandhya Suri’s Santosh, featuring Shahana Goswami and Sanjay Bishnoi, has been selected at the festival in the UN Certain Regard section.

Bulgarian director Konstantin Bojanov's The Shameless, which features Mita Vashisht, Tanmay Dhanania, Auroshikha Dey and Rohit Kokate, is also part of the same section.
