Shooting has begun for Hoichoi’s new original series Jaatishawr, starring Madhumita Sarcar and Rohaan Bhattacharya. The streaming platform shared glimpses of the first day’s shoot on their social media handles.
The series is written by Anuja Chatterjee and helmed by Sani Ghose Ray. Madhumita plays the protagonist Roopkatha Basu, a free spirited photographer with a penchant for life. Rohaan Bhattacharya plays her beau Aruni Chowdhury, whom she meets through her work.
Full of drama, suspense and emotions, the story of Jaatishawr unravels when Roopkotha visits Aruni’s ancestral family residence. When she meets his family, she begins narrating incidents that took place in the house many years ago, and were kept hidden all these years. Needless to say, Roopkotha’s claims shock the family.
Interestingly, the show shares its name with Srijit Mukherji’s National Award-winning film on rebirth, Jaatishwar. The director was quick to point it out on Twitter. “I like the spelling, Hoichoi TV ;-)” he tweeted.
Madhumita will be seen in an SVF production on the big screen soon. She has paired up with Soham Majumdar for Rahool Mukherjee’s Dilkhush which will hit the cinemas on January 20, 2023. Rohaan was last seen in Hoichoi’s web series Hostel Days.
Jaatishawr will be streaming on Hoichoi in 2023.
