Karan Singh Grover, who plays squadron leader Sartaj Gill in the Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone-starrer Fighter, is also a self-taught painter. Encouraged by his actress wife Bipasha Basu, Karan took up painting in 2016 and launched the project, Star Infinity Art. For Karan, who became a television heartthrob after playing Dr Armaan Mallik in the serial Dill Mill Gayye back in the mid-2000s, art is an expression that comes straight from his heart. Karan started with acrylic, black pen and spray paint, and experiments with different mediums. He posts pictures of his paintings on his Instagram page - Star Infinity Art.
Karan poses with one of his artworks at an exhibition. ‘My depiction is based on my understanding of the state of flow or the flow state. Artists, musicians, athletes, martial artists sometimes either find themselves or work towards and achieve this state of being. It’s a state of being where movement precedes thought, where your body or being moves in a certain way before you think of it,’ Karan described his process of creating art. Elated wife Bipasha Basu cheered him with the comment, ‘Creator of beauty. So proud of you.’
Karan painted a special series called Devi, named after his daughter. ‘It’s a collection of seven artworks. I started work on it when we got pregnant. I knew she was coming and I knew her name was Devi. It’s like knowing that you are in love… you can’t really explain it in words,’ wrote the actor on Instagram.
Smeared with paint, Karan is at work in his studio. A lot of his paintings have bright colours and bold strokes.

The fitness enthusiast sits in the split pose as he draws on a canvas. ‘Everything around me, I create with my mind… But the total number of minds in the universe is one according to Austrian physicist Erwin Schrodinger. So I guess we are creating everything together!’ read his caption.
Surrounded by artworks at various stages of completion, pots of paints, brushes and other tools, Karan is deep in thought.
