Father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy will host this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, to be held on September 15 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, The Television Academy announced on Friday.

Four years ago, Eugene and Dan Levy made history as the first father-son duo to win Emmys in the same year. And they will be scripting history again as the first father-son-duo to host the Emmys.

“Get ready for an unforgettable night! Eugene Levy and @instadanjlevy will host the 76th Emmy Awards LIVE Sunday, Sept. 15, 8e/5p on @abc. #Emmys #TelevisionAcademy,” the Television Academy wrote on social media.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough. We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on September 15,” Eugene and Dan said in a statement to the American media.

In 2020, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Levys won multiple Emmys for the final season of their critically acclaimed comedy Schitt’s Creek, which they co-created and starred in. The show also featured Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy.

Eugene Levy currently hosts and serves as executive producer of The Reluctant Traveler, an Emmy-nominated travel documentary series on Apple TV+ that was recently renewed for a third season. He will also guest star in the fourth season of Hulu’s hit series Only Murders in the Building.

Dan Levy, meanwhile, founded his own film and television production company, Not a Real Production Co., and made his directorial feature film debut with Good Grief (2023), which he also wrote and starred in.

Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, in a statement said that the Levys’ “comedic intuition and uncanny ability to capture the hearts of viewers will make for a memorable Emmys telecast honoring this year’s best and brightest.”

Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego said, “We’re thrilled to welcome two generations of comedy genius to the Emmys stage as hosts. I cannot wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”
