Vin Diesel-starrer Fast X has set the Indian box office on fire, raking in Rs 81 crore nett in its first week of release, Box Office India figures suggest.
The latest instalment of the popular Fast and Furious franchise has emerged as the highest-grossing Hollywood movie to release in India in 2023. Marvel Studios’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which entered its fourth week on Friday, has been a distant second with a collection of Rs 54 crore nett so far.
The adrenaline-fuelled action extravaganza, which released in theatres worldwide on May 18, opened to a collection of Rs 12.5 crore nett on Day 1. It raked in Rs 13.6 crore nett on Friday, Rs 16.2 crore nett on Saturday and Rs 17.3 crore nett on Sunday. The action thriller added another Rs 20 crore nett to its kitty during the weekdays, taking its total earnings so far to Rs 80 crore nett.
Directed by Louis Leterrier, Fast X continues to perform well in the US and Canada too, having earned USD 81 million in the first week. With an additional USD 270 million from the overseas markets, the worldwide collection of the movie has crossed USD 352 million, according to Box Office Mojo reports.
Also starring Jason Momoa, Rita Moreno, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Brie Larson, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren, Fast X delivers a pulse-pounding blend of high-speed chases and daring stunts that audiences associate with the franchise.
