Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar on Tuesday unveiled the poster of his upcoming production venture 120 Bahadur, a film based on the real-life story of Major Shaitan Singh, an Indian military officer who commanded a troop of 120 soldiers during the India-China war of 1962.

“What they accomplished will never be forgotten. It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj. Shaitan Singh PVC and the soldiers of Charlie company, 13 Kumaon regiment,” the 50-year-old actor-filmmaker wrote alongside the poster.

“Famously known as the Battle of Rezang La, fought on the 18th of November 1962 during the Indo-China war, it is a story of remarkable courage, heroism and selflessness shown by our men in uniform against all odds,” Farhan added.

Farhan will reportedly play the lead role in the film.

Expressing gratitude to the Indian Army for their support towards the creation of the film, Farhan wrote, “We are grateful to the Indian Army for their support in bringing this incredible tale of valour to the screen. We embark today to make this film in all humility and with utmost respect to those we represent.”

The poster features the back profile of a soldier, presumably Maj. Shaitan Singh, standing atop a rock in the snow-covered terrains of ladakh. He can be seen commanding a battalion of soldiers gearing up for war.

Directed by Razneesh Ghai, the upcoming film is written by Rajiv G Menon. The music for the film is composed by Amit Trivedi and penned by Javed Akhtar. It is produced by Farhan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Amit Chandrra under the banner of Excel Entertainment.

A few days back, Farhan took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture from Ladakh, mentioning that he is back at the place to shoot for a new film after Lakshya and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

“Back in Ladakh after Lakshya and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to shoot for a very special film. Details to be revealed soon. Watch this space,” he wrote.

Located at an altitude of 18,000 feet in the Ladakh region, Rezang La was defended by 120 soldiers of the 13 Kumaon Regiment, led by Major Shaitan Singh. They inflicted heavy casualties on the Chinese forces before being overrun.
