Actor Farhan Akhtar on Monday dropped the official poster for 120 Bahadur, an upcoming film based on the life of Indian Army officer Major Shaitan Singh who led cadets to the battle of Rezang-La in 1962.
“It’s been 62 years since 1962. Today, we honour the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of the heroes of Rezang La. 120 Bahadur is our tribute to the valour and the indomitable spirit of Major Shaitan Singh and his brave men, who stood their ground against insurmountable odds. Their story echoes through time, reminding us of the price of freedom and the strength of unity, with a special salute to the Ahir community, whose sons displayed unmatched bravery in defending our nation,” Farhan, who will be seen playing the role of Major Shaitan Singh, wrote alongside the poster on Instagram.
In the poster, the 50-year-old actor is seen in his army uniform and blood-stained teeth, aiming his rifle with a fierce expression.
Located at an altitude of 18,000 feet in the Ladakh region, Rezang La was defended by 120 soldiers of the 13 Kumaon Regiment, led by Major Shaitan Singh. They inflicted heavy casualties on the Chinese forces before being overrun.
Earlier in September, Farhan’s production house Excel Entertainment made the official announcement of the film on Instagram.
“It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC and the soldiers of Charlie company, 13 Kumaon regiment. Famously known as the Battle of Rezang La, fought on the 18th of November 1962 during the Indo-China war, it is a story of remarkable courage, heroism and selflessness shown by our men in uniform against all odds. We are grateful to the Indian Army for their support in bringing this incredible tale of valour to the screen. We embark today to make this film in all humility and with utmost respect to those we represent,” the production company wrote on Instagram.
The Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai directorial’s music will be composed by Amit Trivedi and penned by Javed Akhtar. The film is slated to release in 2025.
Farhan Akhtar is also gearing up for his next directorial Don 3, which stars Ranveer Singh in the titular role, taking over from Shah Rukh Khan. The film also stars Kiara Advani and is expected to hit theatres in 2025.
