Nicole Kidman’s Lady Sarah Ashley teams up with charismatic rancher played by Hugh Jackman to save a cattle ranch in the trailer of Faraway Downs, dropped by Disney+ Hotstar on social media Thursday.
With shots of the lush green countryside throughout the newly released trailer, filmmaker Baz Luhrmann promises a nostalgic journey back to Faraway Downs, a six-chapter reimagining of his 2008 film Australia where Kidman and Jackman would reprise their roles from the original Academy Award-nominated movie.
The two-minute-21-second-long trailer begins with Lady Ashley embarking on a journey to Australia to take over her husband’s cattle ranch named Faraway Downs. Along the way, she encounters a charismatic cattle rancher, Drover (Jackman), and a young indigenous child named Nullah (Brandon Walters). Nullah quickly becomes her guide, revealing the beauty of the Australian countryside.
However, trouble soon rears its head when the police arrive with the intention of arresting Nullah. Lady Ashley refuses to let that happen and takes a bold stance to save the cattle ranch with the help of Drover. All of this unfolds against the backdrop of Australia's involvement in the Pacific theatre during World War II.
“Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman star in #FarawayDowns, a captivating six-part reimagining of Baz Luhrmann’s cinematic masterpiece, Australia, Coming Soon,” the streamer wrote on X sharing the video.
The mini-series will soon arrive on Disney+ Hotstar.
