One of my favourite Sonakshi Sinha films is Double XL. The story addresses issues pertaining to body positivity and female empowerment. The concept of Double XL is refreshing and relevant. Sonakshi plays Saira, a dress designer. In the beginning of the film, she is unable to find an outfit for herself because she is overweight. So her aim is to design clothes for every size. Her friend Rajashree (Huma Qureshi) was also able to fulfil her dream of becoming a sports presenter in spite of being overweight. The film carries the message that no matter what our size, we can achieve what we want if we have willpower. The movie is a perfect mix of drama and comedy. The topic is sensitive as there are people in our society who judge us by our size and clothes and not by our talent. I thank the makers that the film was not about losing weight to become successful. (My favourite Sonakshi Sinha film is... June 1)

Sonakshi Sinha is one of the few actresses who has successfully rejected the opinion that an actress should have an ideal body shape. She has beautifully embraced her natural body type. Out of her filmography, I would choose Lootera (2013) as my favourite. Based on O Henry’s short story, The Last Leaf, it is a tale of finding hope in the darkest of times. Set in a scenic town of Bengal, a young Pakhi (Sonakshi) lives with her father. Her life takes a turn when she falls for a charming young archaeologist Varun Shrivastav (Ranveer Singh). Over time, their bond strengthens and they decide to take their relationship to the next level. However, after the government abolishes the zamindari system, their household is in a mess. Varun extends his support to the family but later vanishes with rare artefacts, leaving them shocked and heartbroken. After a year, he returns for another heist but seeing Pakhi’s deteriorating health, he decides to devote himself towards her care. She informs him that she would continue to live until the last leaf from the tree outside her window falls. Realising her situation, he paints a leaf and affixes it on the tree before being killed in a police encounter. When she discovers this, her eyes well up with tears but she smiles instantly believing that he created the masterpiece he wished for. Both Ranveer and Sonakshi delivered superb performances. The aesthetics of old Bengal and its buoyant songs like Sawaar loon and Monta re added more sparkle to this gem.
Aayman Anwar Ali
I have seen many films starring Sonakshi, like Dabangg, Lootera, Rowdy Rathore and many more. Since making her debut in 2010, Sonakshi has mesmerised the audience through her graceful appearance, beauty and composed repertoire of dance and acting. Sinha is only 36 and has a long way to go. The daughter of yesteryear hero Shatrughan Sinha has received awards and accolades from all corners of the film industry. Her best film that I have watched is Rowdy Rathore where her chemistry with Akshay Kumar was a treat to watch. The action thriller has a good story mixed with comedy and its music was melodious. The song Chinta ta ta chita chita was very entertaining. Akshay Kumar played the double role of an IPS police officer and a thief, and his romance with Sonakshi enthralled the audience. I hope Sinha will do more such films in the days to come. Best wishes to this beautiful actress for her future endeavours!

Sonakshi Sinha made her debut in 2010 with Dabangg, opposite Salman Khan. She appeared as Rajjo whom Chulbul Pandey (Salman), a cop, noticed during a chase. Though she rejects his proposal at first, she marries him after her father dies. Rajjo and Chulbul Pande are one of the most loved couples in Bollywood movies. They appeared together in the sequels as well.
Based on the true story of the hard work and contribution of ISRO scientists, Sonakshi Sinha played the role of Eka Gandhi in Mission Mangal, as a talented, ambitious girl who aspires to join NASA. She joins the Mars orbiter mission, rejects NASA’s proposal and becomes committed to making ISRO’s project a success.
In Kalank, she played the role of Satya Chaudhry, a caring wife who knew that she would die soon. She wanted her husband to marry again so that his new wife could support him in his business.
In Bhuj: The Pride of India she appears as a traditional Gujarati woman, who is also gallant and brave. The scene where she kills a leopard to save a cow while holding an infant in her arms is unforgettable. She also motivates villagers to help an air force officer to rebuild a runway track so that the army could easily reach the border area. These are my favourite movies of Sonakshi Sinha.

My favourite Sonakshi Sinha film is Dabangg. The beautiful actress made her big screen debut opposite Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in this movie. Sonakshi played the character of Rajjo so well! Her acting, her charm and her magical screen presence in the first instalment of the Dabangg franchise made me a fan instantly. After that blockbuster movie, Sonakshi won my heart with her fantastic performances in several movies in her 13-year-old acting journey, but to date, Dabangg remains my favourite Sonakshi Sinha movie.
