American rapper Eminem’s lead single Houdini from his 11th studio album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace) is set to release on May 31, he announced in a video featuring magician David Blaine on Wednesday.
The video, shared on Instagram, shows Eminem calling Blaine on FaceTime and asking for a collaboration. “Well first of all, I just want you to know you’re the greatest to ever do it,” the singer said, prompting Blaine to reply, “We should do something together one time.”
“What I was wondering is, how far can we go with this magic? Can we do a stunt or something?” Eminem wondered aloud. Next, we see Blaine at a cafe with a glass of red wine. After gulping down the wine in one go, Blaine started biting the glass until it shattered inside his mouth. At the end of the video, the release date of his upcoming album is shown on the screen.
Fans flooded the comments section with some of them expressing concern over the album being the rapper’s last project. “What do you mean make your career disappear,” one of them wrote, enquiring about Eminem’s words in the video. “Em can’t make his career disappear though,” another wrote.
Eminem surprised his fans with the release of Music to Be Murdered By in January 2020 without any prior announcement in a similar fashion to his previous album Kamikaze. Nominated for the Juno Award for International Album of the Year and the ARIA Music Award for Best International Artist, Music to Be Murdered By turned out to be an instant hit and topped Billboard 200.
The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace) is slated to release in summer this year.
