Max’s favourite song is topping the music charts YouTube

If you are hooked to Running up that Hill during or after watching Stranger Things Season 4 and wondering why you can’t get enough of this song, then you are not alone!

English singer-songwriter Kate Bush’s 1985 hit single is topping the charts after 37 years since its release. Running up that Hill peaked to the no. 1 spot on iTunes and Spotify’s top five (as of Tuesday). It plays in Max’s (Sadie Sink) storyline in the popular supernatural web series, showing how she battles with her past trauma, and how this song plays a significant role to lift her up to fight on.

With Running up that Hill playing in the background, a spectacular moment is created that alone can make it the best season of the franchise.

Among people streaming the show, popular content creator Kusha Kapila and comedian Rohan Joshi have raved about the song on their Instagram Stories recently.

Running up that Hill was Bush’s first single from her fifth studio album, Hounds of Love. At that time, after the release, the song made it to no. 3 on the UK Singles Chart and went up to no. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Set in the fictional town of Hawkins, the 1980s sound had already created a mood in the past three seasons. Quite evidently, Africa by Toto (Season 1), Time after Time by Cyndi Lauper, and The NeverEnding Story by Limahl resurfaced on playlists.

Stranger Things Season 4 is streaming on Netflix for a week. Volume 1 comprises seven episodes and Volume 2 will go live on July 1 with the final two episodes.
