Dunki vs Salaar Day 1 advance bookings: Shah Rukh Khan’s drama trumps actioner starring Prabhas

While Rajkumar Hirani’s film will release on December 21, the Prashanth Neel-directorial will hit the screens on December 22

Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki has taken a substantial lead over Prabhas' Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire in first-day advance booking, collecting Rs 4.54 crore nett in the first 24 hours since bookings opened on Sunday, as per trade records.

The Rajkumar Hirani-directed film, however, sold fewer tickets than Salaar. According to industry data tracking platform Sacnilk, Dunki sold 1.48 lakh tickets against Salaar’s 1.58 lakh. The Prabhas-starrer has collected Rs 3.74 crore through advance booking so far.

The regions contributing the most to Dunki's advance booking numbers include Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir, according to Sacnilk..

Key contributors to Salaar's advance bookings include Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh.

Salaar’s Telugu version led with 85,627 tickets, while the Hindi version sold a total of 19,149 tickets. The Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada versions collectively sold 50,948 tickets.

Both films are also making waves in international markets. Dunki has crossed USD 200,000 in the US advance bookings for the first day across 1,259 shows. On the other hand, Salaar has already crossed the USD one-million mark in North America as of Sunday.

Shah Rukh Khan’s previous films — Pathaan and Jawan — grossed Rs 1,050 crore and Rs 1,160 crore, respectively, worldwide.

For Prabhas, the performance of Salaar is pivotal, given his previous films' lackluster reception. Adipurush collected only Rs 288.15 crore nett in India. Similarly, Radhe Shyam, starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, managed a domestic box office collection of only Rs 104.38 crore nett.
