Almost four years after the release of her last full-length album Future Nostalgia, singer-songwriter Dua Lipa on May 3 dropped her latest album Radical Optimism that features 11 songs including the lead single Houdini.
Drumming up excitement for the release, the Albanian singer took to social media dubbing the release day ‘Radical Optimism Day’. On X (formerly Twitter), she retweeted a post featuring a selfie and the tracklist of the new album. The caption read, “HAPPY RADICAL OPTIMISM DAY! 🌊How many hours do you have left, and which track are you claiming?”
Radical Optimism was announced in February in an interview where the Levitating singer revealed that her latest album dealt with adjusting to singlehood after the end of a relationship. In an interview, the singer said dating was “just a little confusing” especially for public figures.
Dua Lipa had reportedly dated singer Jack Harlow and Masters of the Air star Callum Turner in the recent past. Harlow also dedicated a song to her.
The first track from the album, released in November 2023, promoted the concept of moving forward and personal growth. It was titled Houdini. In February, the second single Training Season was released followed by the song Illusion last month.
Ahead of the album’s release, the New Rules singer had said that the album is influenced by Britpop and the UK rave culture as well as bands like Oasis.
