Inside Out spin-off series Dream Productions is set to further explore Riley’s mind, with new characters — the dream makers — taking the centre stage, shows the first teaser dropped by the makers on Thursday.

The one-minute-48-second-long teaser, which introduces the world of dreams in Riley’s mind, is set between the events of Inside Out and its recent sequel. The video kicks off with Joy, who takes viewers through the headquarters of emotions inside Riley’s mind, reintroducing fans to her predominant feelings — Anger and Disgust. As Riley grows, her mind starts to become a storehouse for memories, which are sent to Dream Productions where dream directors channel her subconscious emotions into dreams.

We meet Paula Persimmon, an acclaimed dream director who has been making dreams for Riley since she was two years old. Dreams have a world of their own in the show. Dream makers Zak, Sheng and Gigi fill Riley’s mind with comedy, action and nightmares.

Paula’s dream-directing career is threatened when Xeni, a ‘professional daydream maker’, enters the scene and takes over Dream Productions with his bossy and smug attitude. When Paula is forced to team up with Xeni to direct the next hit dream, her job becomes a nightmare for her.

The four-episode limited series is slated to hit Disney Plus on December 11. Inside Out 2, which hit theatres in June, emerged as the highest-grossing movie of 2024 after just two weeks of its release. The movie continues the story from the 2015 original, delving into the teenage years of Riley, who now grapples with new emotions such as anxiety and envy.

While the 2015 original had earned USD 858 million worldwide during its theatrical run, Inside Out 2 grossed USD 1.698 billion at the global box office.
