The two big Bollywood films lined up for release next week will hit the theatres on Tuesday, October 25 — instead of Friday, which is the convention — to coincide with Diwali.
Akshay Kumar-starrer Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn-Sidharth Malhotra’s Thank God will have the much-anticipated Diwali face-off at the box office. Closer home, Ballabhpurer Roopkotha, Anirban Bhattacharya’s first directorial venture for the big screen, and Parambrata Chattopadhyay-starrer Jatugriho have followed suit with an October 25 release. Here’s what to expect from these four films next week.
Ram Setu (Hindi)

An atheist archaeologist-turned-believer, played by Akshay Kumar, must race against time to prove the existence of the legendary Ram Setu before it is destroyed. A blend of mythology and action-adventure with several twists and turns, Ram Setu promises to be an edge-of-the-seat entertainer.
Thank God (Hindi)

This is a comedy centring around an egoistic real estate broker (Sidharth Malhotra) who runs into a huge debt and then meets with an accident. As he gains consciousness, he realises that he is in heaven. God (Ajay Devgn) appears before him and tells him that he will have to play the ‘Game of Life’. If the broker manages to win, he will be sent back to earth; otherwise, a descent into hell is the only option.
Ballabhpurer Roopkotha (Bengali)

The crumbling palace (Rajbari) of Ballabhpur has only two living residents — Bhupati Ray and his domestic worker, Manohar. Bhupati is in desperate need of money as moneylenders won’t let him live in peace. In a stroke of luck, a rich businessman from Kolkata, Mr Haldar, plans to buy the palace and Bhupati tries his best to sell it off. This horror comedy is the screen adaptation of a popular play by theatre legend Badal Sircar.
Jotugriha (Bengali)

Cast: Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Bonny Sengupta, Paayel Sarkar, Piyali Chatterjee
If the trailer is any indication, Jotugriha promises to be a scary watch. The film is set in Nishadganj, a sleepy town in the hills. A newly-appointed hotel manager, Rehan (Bonny Sengupta), gets embroiled in a series of mysterious events surrounding a haunted manor in the hills. A priest (Parambrata Chattopadhyay) from the local church comes to his aid in solving this mystery.
