Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh shared comedic moments with Jimmy Fallon, teaching the latter some Punjabi lines behind the stage ahead of his appearance on the latest episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The Crew actor appeared in two short videos in which he can be seen interacting with the talk show host. In one of the videos, Diljit and Jimmy appear to be sharing a laugh. The text on the video reads, “Learn how to speak Punjabi with Diljit Dosanjh.”
The first Punjabi phrase that the Hass Hass singer teaches Jimmy is “Punjabi agaye oye”, which translates to “The Punjabi is here”. Diljit emphasises on the “oye” which leads to Jimmy trying to copy him, leading to some behind-the-stage laughs. The guest star follows it up with the greeting “Sat Sri Akal”, which Jimmy repeats as well.
Reactions from fans of the show and the singer flooded the comments section. “It’s the Oye for me,” wrote actress Priyanka Chopra.
In a previous video, Diljit and Jimmy meet each other backstage and shake hands. Jimmy acknowledges the black glove in Diljit’s hand and takes out a white glove with ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ embroidered on it from his pocket. They then proceed to swap and wear the gloves. Jimmy captioned the post, “Backstage glove swap with @diljitdosanjh!”
Diljit had also shared a series of photos from the show’s sets. In the photos, he can be seen wearing a red turban, baggy black pants and an oversized white sweatshirt.
However, on the show that aired on June 17 night in the USA, the singer sported a white turban along with a black-and-white kurta and tehmat set. He performed Born to Shine and G.O.A.T., both from his 2020 album G.O.A.T.
Along with his US television debut, the singer-actor has been making headlines with his Netflix movie Amar Singh Chamkila. The actor-singer is currently on the Dil-Luminati Tour in Canada and the USA. He also recently announced that he will be returning to star in the upcoming Punjabi movie sequel Jatt & Juliet 3.
