Amar Singh Chamkila stars Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh engaged in a playful banter on the sets of the upcoming Imtiaz Ali-directed film, shows a behind-the-scenes video dropped by Diljit on Saturday.
“Amarjot Ch Rihanna Aa Gai C Chamkila 12th April Only on @netflix_in,” the Hass Hass singer captioned his post on Instagram.
The video shows Diljit singing a Punjabi folk song. Parineeti teases him by playfully taking away the microphone. The actress then performs a hilarious dance routine, prompting Diljit to comment light-heartedly, “Inhe vidaa kro” (Bid farewell to her). The actor reveals that Parineeti has almost completed filming for her role in the upcoming biopic. Following this, Diljit and the other crew members sing the song Tujhe Vidaa Karu from the film for Parineeti, who happily bows before her audience.
The trailer, released by the makers on Thursday, revealed that Diljit essays the role of the titular character, while Parineeti plays his wife and singing partner Amarjot in the film.
The trailer showcases how a young Amar Singh transitioned from a worker at a sock-manufacturing company to a popular folk singer in Punjab. However, the vulgar lyrics of his songs led to violent protests, which ultimately resulted in his untimely death.
Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman has composed the soundtrack for the film.
Amar Singh Chamkila is slated to premiere on Netflix on April 12.
