The tracklist consists of six songs — Ishq Mitaye, Naram Kaalja, Tu Kya Jaane, Baaja, Bol Mohabbat and Vida Karo.

Amar Singh Chamkila is a biopic on Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, one of the best-selling Indian artistes of the 1980s. The singer, who was killed at the age of 27 along with his wife and two members of his band, shot to fame with his song Takue Te Takua and went on to deliver several hits.

Imtiaz brings to life the story of Chamkila’s rise to fame and his eventual demise. It depicts how the singer, often hailed as the ‘Elvis Presley of Punjab’, went from working at a sock-manufacturing company to becoming a widely-known folk singer in Punjab. However, the alleged vulgar lyrics of his songs led to several protests, which ultimately led to his death at a young age.

Parineeti plays Chamkila’s wife Amarjot Kaur, who accompanied her husband on his music tours.

Directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings LLP, Saregama and Window Seat Films, Amar Singh Chamkila hit Netflix on April 12. The music for the film has been composed by A.R. Rahman.
