Before Bobby Deol won hearts with his Jamal Kudu step in Animal, his father Dharmendra perfected the move in the dance sequence of the song Main Jat Yamla Pagla in his 1975 film Pratigya, shows a video shared by the latter on Sunday.
“Friends, with love ❤️ to you all,” the 88-year-old actor captioned the video on Instagram.
The video begins with Bobby’s viral hook step from the Animal song Jamal Kudu, where he balances a glass of alcohol on his head and grooves along to the catchy tune. It is interspersed with scenes from the music video of Dharmendra’s Main Jat Yamla Pagla song, where the veteran actor can be seen holding a bottle of alcohol in one hand and balancing another bottle on his head while dancing to the chorus of the track.
Soon after the post was shared, Bobby took to the comments section and dropped smiling emojis. Fans flooded the comments section with their love for the veteran actor. “Love you, papaji,” one of them wrote.
Bobby’s glass-on-head step from Jamal Kudu went viral shortly after Animal released theatrically in December last year. The video was trending on social media, with content creators and fans recreating the step in their reels.
Dharmendra was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon earlier this year. He will next feature in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, a war drama focussing on the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, which also stars Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat.
