Dhanush’s second directorial venture Raayan, which was initially slated to release on June 13, will now hit theatres on July 26, the actor announced on Monday alongside a fresh set of posters in different languages.
Sharing the posters in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English languages on X (formerly Twitter), the 40-year-old actor wrote, “#Raayan From July 26th.”
The posters feature Dhanush sporting a moustache and beard. A painting of Goddess Kali engulfed in flames appears in the background.
Apart from directing the film, Dhanush stars in the leading role. Initially titled D50, Raayan also features Nithya Menen, Sundeep Kishan, SJ Suryah and Kalidas Jayaram. It is the actor’s second directorial project after the 2017 film Pa Paandi.
Previously, a first-look poster of the film was released by the makers. Clad in a blood-soaked apron, Dhanush goes bald and sports a moustache as he gazes intensely at the camera in the posters. He wields a steel weapon and stands in front of a food truck on which two other characters appear. The actor clenches his fists and looks directly at the camera.
Raayan is produced under the banner of Sun Pictures. While A.R. Rahman has composed the soundtrack for the film, Om Prakash has worked with the cinematography.
Dhanush was last seen in Arun Matheswaran’s Captain Miller, which released in theatres on January 12 in Hindi and on January 25 in Telugu. The film is currently available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
The actor is also set to portray the role of Ilaiyaraaja in a biopic of the legendary music composer. The film is helmed by Arun Matheswaran.
