While big-budget films like Dulquer Salmaan and Rashmika Mandana-starrer Sita Ramam and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s Bimbisara hit theatres on August 5, new trailers and teasers kept social media abuzz down south in the first week of August.
The makers of Anaswara Rajan’s coming-of-age film, Mike, dropped its official trailer on August 1, kickstarting the month on a high note for the Malayalam film industry.

Monsoon Raaga (Kannada)
Vikhyath Studios has released the trailer of their upcoming family entertainer Monsoon Raaga starring Dhananjaya, Rachita Ram, Yasha Shivakumar, Suhasini and Achyuth Kumar.
In the two-minute trailer, rain plays an essential role in fight sequences and romantic scenes. Monsoon Raaga is directed by S. Ravindranath and produced by A.R. Vikhyath. J Anoop Seelin has composed the music for the film.
Monsoon Raaga will release worldwide on August 19.
Peace (Malayalam)
Joy Music has dropped the trailer of Malayalam film Peace, billed as a social satire. Directed by Sanfeer K, the film stars Joju George, Siddique, Asha Sarath, Remya Nambeesan, Aditi Ravi, Mamukkoya, Anil Nedumangad, Vijilesh Karayad and Shalu Rahim.
The one-minute-45-second trailer revolves around a drug business and the strange events that follow. The trailer gives us glimpses of different characters and a hint at the twisted plot.
Peace will arrive in theatres on August 19.
Masooda (Telugu)
Swadharm Entertainment released the official teaser of their horror film Masooda. Written and directed by Sai Kiran and produced by Rahul Yadav Nakka, the film features an ensemble cast of Sangitha, Thiruveer, Kavya Kalyan Ram, Subhaleka Sudhakar, Akhila Ram, Bandavi Sridhar, Satyam Rajesh, Satya Prakash, Surya Rao, Surabhi Prabhavathi and Krishna Teja.
The short teaser gives us a glimpse of a young girl who starts to act strange and her family struggling to understand whether her actions are related to psychological or supernatural events. Strange murders and accidents keep happening as the story gets increasingly dark and spooky.
The makers have not yet announced the release date of Masooda.
Natchathiram Nagargiradhu (Tamil)
Filmmaker Pa Ranjith unveiled a new poster of his upcoming film Natchathiram Nagargiradhu on Twitter. The film is said to be a contemporary take on the lives of modern theatre artistes.
Natchathiram Nagargiradhu stars Hari Krishnan, Vinoth, Subathra Robert, Regin Rose, Damu, Gnanaprasad, Vinsu Rachel Sam, Arjun Prabhakaran, Uthaiya Surya, Stephen Raj, Sherin Celin Mathew and Manisa Tait.
Natchathiram Nagargiradhu will hit theatres on August 31.
