The first of a two-part series, Devara marks Janhvi Kapoor’s Telugu film debut and Saif Ali Khan stepping into his first villainous role in a south Indian film.

Meiyazhagan brings together Karthi and Arvind Swami in an emotional family drama directed by C. Premkumar, known for his hit film ’96. Meiyazhagan follows two brothers-in-law — a lively villager played by Karthi, and a composed and sophisticated man portrayed by Swamy — as they navigate their complex relationship over the course of a single night. Govind Vasantha has composed the music for the film. Another highlight of the movie is Kamal Haasan, who has lent his voice to two of its songs.

A year after Sharmila gets married to Koustav (Saurav Das), she is raped by Roni (Surjo Majumder), the son of an influential business tycoon Saibal Banerjee (Loknath Dey). Soumendu takes Roni to court but he is declared innocent. The story explores the ramifications of the incident on the father and daughter.
