Jr NTR-starrer Devara: Part 1 made a fantastic debut at the box office, minting Rs 140 crore gross worldwide on Day 1, according to the industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk. Also starring Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, the actioner earned Rs 77 crore nett in India on its opening day across all languages.
Devara: Part 1 garnered Rs 68.6 crore nett from the Telugu version alone. Contributions from other languages include Rs 7 crore nett from the Hindi version, Rs 0.3 crore nett from the Kannada version, Rs 0.8 crore nett from the Tamil version and Rs 0.3 crore nett from the Malayalam version.
Directed by Koratala Siva, Devara: Part 1 marks the much-anticipated return of Jr NTR to the big screen following his S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR. He takes on a dual role as a father (Devara) and son (Varadha), with his character central to a narrative exploring power struggles set against a coastal backdrop.
Saif plays the antagonist Bhaira, Devara’s friend who backstabs him in order to wrest control of their trade. Janhvi portrays the role of Thangam, a village girl in love with Varadha.
Devara: Part 1 reunites Jr NTR with Koratala Siva, who previously collaborated in Janatha Garage. Devara is produced by Kosaraju Hari Krishna and Sudhakar Mikkilineni under the banners of NTR Arts and Yuvasudha Arts, with Nandamuri Kalyan Ram serving as the presenter.
