Actor Dev, playing the titular role in his next home production Bagha Jatin, transforms into a rugged-looking man with matted hair and a flowing beard as part of an elaborate disguise in a new character poster of the movie directed by Arun Roy.
The new look, created by make-up artist Somnath Kundu, is a nod to the disguises put on by freedom fighters to evade the British police during the pre-Independence period.
Revealing the inspiration behind the look, Dev said it was an honour for him to step into the shoes of a character who knew the value of disguise in the pursuit of a greater cause. “My character undergoes a transformation to keep the flames of resistance burning. It's a humbling experience to portray this untold chapter of our history and pay tribute to those who fought valiantly for our freedom.”
Based on the life of Jatindranath Mukherjee, one of the significant figures in the annals of India’s Independence struggle, Bagha Jatin’s cast also includes Sudipta Chakraborty, Samiul Alam and Sreeja Dutta. The film is slated to hit the theatres on October 19.
