Tollywood star Dev is back with a bang, taking on a double role in Khadaan, the trailer for which was dropped by the makers on Wednesday. Directed by Soojit Rino Dutta, the upcoming action thriller sees Dev portraying a father and son, alongside an ensemble cast featuring Jisshu Sengupta, Barkha Bisht, Idhika Paul and Anirban Chakrabarti.
The two-and-a-half-minute-long trailer opens in the coal belt, introducing the camaraderie between Mohan Das (Jisshu Sengupta) and Shyam Mahato (Dev). However, the narrative soon takes a dramatic turn, hinting at a conflict between the two characters as the story unfolds.
The trailer hints that Shyam is jailed for his actions, while Mohan prospers and becomes a rich industrialist. Shyam’s son (also played by Dev) takes his place in the coal belt.
Khadaan’s gritty visuals, dark-toned palette, and high-octane action — while drawing comparisons to South Indian blockbusters like KGF and Salaar — reflect the harsh realities of life in an industrial coal town. Adding to the excitement is the film’s soundtrack, which has already started trending. Tracks like Rajar Raja, Kishori and Haye Re Biye, composed by Nilayan Chattopadhyay, Savvy, and Rathijit Bhattacharjee, have struck a chord with listeners on music platforms.
Produced by Surinder Films and Dev Entertainment Ventures, Khadaan is slated to hit cinemas on December 20.
