Even as Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD continues to dominate the box office, a slew of new films are set to hit cinemas this Friday. Here’s everything you need to know about the new theatrical releases of the week.

Despicable Me 4 (English)

Undercover Anti-Villain League agent Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) returns in Despicable Me 4, where he encounters his old rival Maxime Le Mal (voiced by Will Ferrell). During their latest face-off, Maxime, now enhanced with cockroach body parts, is arrested by Gru but still manages to escape. Maxime reveals a gun that turns people into cockroach hybrids and targets Gru’s son. Gru must now do all it takes to save his son.

Kill (Hindi)

Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment, Kill follows the story of Amrit (played by Lakshya), a soldier in a desperate race against time to prevent his girlfriend Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) from entering into a forced marriage. Their journey on a train turns perilous when a group of ruthless thieves hijack it. Amrit, who is highly skilled in combat, steps up to protect the passengers and confronts the violent gang led by Raghav Juyal's character.

Toofan (Bengali)

Cast: Shakib Khan, Mimi Chakraborty, Masuma Rahman Nabila, Chanchal Chowdhury

Toofan is a Bangladeshi crime action thriller directed by Raihan Rafi. Set in the 1990s, the film centres on a notorious gangster named Toofan, portrayed by Shakib Khan. The cast also includes Mimi Chakraborty and Masuma Rahman Nabila. Chanchal Chowdhury appears in an extended cameo. Toofan, a mafia leader and top terrorist, devises an escape plan involving his doppelgänger, Shanto, an aspiring actor. Mimi Chakraborty plays Suchana, Toofan's partner and a film actress, while Masuma Rahman Nabila is Julie, a costume designer and Shanto’s girlfriend. Chanchal Chowdhury plays AC Akram, a CID officer determined to bring Toofan down.

Aranyer Prachin Probad (Bengali)

Directed by: Dulal Dey

Cast: Jeetu Kamal, Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, Silajit Majumder, and Loknath Dey

Aparajito actor Jeetu Kamal headlines the detective thriller Aranyer Prachin Probad, directed by sports journalist Dulal Dey. The film also stars Bangladeshi actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila as the female lead. The story revolves around the murder of a doctor (Suhotro Mukhopadhyay), who wanted to help the underprivileged. Jeetu plays Aranya, a would-be doctor who takes on the task of solving the case. Mithila plays Aranya’s girlfriend, while Silajit Majumder appears as a CID officer who is related to Aranya.

Doansh (Bengali)

Cast: Sanjita Mukherjee, Anubhav Kanjilal, Sritama Dey, Payel Roy, Kingshuk Ganguly and Nimai Shasmal

Sayan Bandyopadhyay’s Doaansh is a rural love story set in the heart of the Sundarbans. The narrative follows Jhumri (Sanjita Mukherjee) and Dibakar (Anubhav Kanjilal), two young individuals who have lost their families to tiger attacks. The story revolves around their efforts to escape the clutches of illegal contractors dominating the area, showing how a series of shocking events alter their lives forever.
