Deepika Padukone to present an award at Oscars 2023

The 37-year-old will be the third Indian to present an Oscar following Persis Khambatta and Priyanka Chopra

Deepika Padukone will be joining the likes of Emily Blunt, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael B. Jordan as a presenter at the 95th Oscars ceremony, The Academy announced in a post on Instagram on Thursday.

The 37-year-old actress is the third Indian to become a presenter at the Oscars. Indian model Persis Khambatta was the first to achieve the feat in 1980 followed by Priyanka Chopra in 2016.

Dwayne Johnson, Janelle Monáe, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Connelly, Riz Ahmed and Melissa McCarthy are among the sixteen others to become presenters for the Oscars this year.

Deepika was also the only Indian on the Cannes Jury for the 75th Cannes Film Festival in 2022 and went on to unveil the FIFA World Cup trophy the same year. The actress has also been signed as the face of Louis Vuitton, the designers who will be behind her Oscars outfit as well.

The 95th Academy Awards ceremony, to be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, will air live on ABC on Sunday, March 12, 2023 (March 13 early morning, as per Indian Standard Time).

Deepika’s latest outing Pathaan went on to make box office history with over Rs 1000 crore in earnings worldwide. She will be seen next in Fighter opposite Hrithik Roshan, scheduled for a January 25 release next year.
