Actress Deepika Padukone will play the role of cop ‘Lady Singham’ in Rohit Shetty’s Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham Again, a sequel to 2014’s Singham Returns, as per reports.

The Singham franchise stars Ajay as the gritty cop Bajirao Singham who fights against injustice.

Shetty’s cop universe comprises films featuring police officers as protagonists. The franchise began with the success of Singham in 2011. Shetty went on to make Singham Returns (2014) with Ajay Devgn, Simmba (2018) with Ranveer Singh and Sooryavanshi (2021) with Akshay Kumar.

Deepika will also be seen in a cameo performance in Shetty’s upcoming comedy film Cirkus, which features her husband Ranveer Singh in a double role. Gehraiyaan actress and Shetty had last collaborated for the 2013 blockbuster Chennai Express, starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Singham Again is slated for a 2024 release. Deepika Padukone will be the first female cop in Shetty’s cop universe.
