Actor-couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have named their daughter Dua Padukone Singh, they announced in a joint statement on Friday, dropping the first glimpse of the baby girl on social media.
Sharing a picture of their daughter’s feet, Ranveer and Deepika wrote, “Dua Padukone Singh. ‘Dua’ : meaning a Prayer. Because She is the Answer to our Prayers. Our hearts are filled with Love & Gratitude. Deepika & Ranveer.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2018, announced their pregnancy in February this year, right before attending the wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Their daughter was born on September 8.
Celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Shoojit Sircar and Arjun Kapoor took to the comments section to share their warm blessings. While Alia dropped multi-coloured heart emojis, Arjun Kapoor called Dua ‘Baby Simba’.
The couple recently starred in Rohit Shetty’s cop-verse Singham Again, released on November 1. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor and Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles. Deepika plays the role of DCP Shakti Shetty in the film. Ranveer reprises his role of Sangram Simmba Bhalerao from the 2018 film Simmba, also starring Sara Ali Khan.
