Actress Debasree Roy, who is set to pair up on the big screen with Mithun Chakraborty after 14 years for Pathikrit Basu’s Shastri, attended the mahurat of the upcoming film along with several other Tollywood stars in Kolkata on Tuesday.
Adapted from a short story titled Dolgobinda Babur Choshma, penned by Debarati Mukhopadhyay, Shastri will be jointly produced by Surinder Films and Soham Chakraborty’s production banner Soham’s Entertainment.
Soham posted a series of photos from the event on his social media channels. “The wait finally ends. Shubho Muhurat,” the Pradhan actor wrote in the caption.
Mithun and Debasree were once a hit on-screen couple, best known for their chemistry in the 1982 film Troyee. The duo shared the screen in several iconic films such as MLA Fatakesto and Shukno Lanka.
Alongside Mithun and Debasree, Shastri will feature Saswata Chatterjee, Kanchan Mullick, Kaushik Sen, Anirban Chakrabarti, Rajatava Dutta, Sauraseni Maitra and Ambarish Bhattacharya in key roles. Soham Chakraborty is also likely to play a pivotal role in the movie.
Arnab Bhaumik and Aritra Bandyopadhyay have written the script of Shastri, which deals with the topic of science versus astrology. Indraadip Dasgupta will compose the music for the film.
