Deadpool & Wolverine Week 1 box office: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starrer mints almost Rs 90 crore in India

The Shawn Levy-directed MCU movie amassed USD 590 million at the worldwide box office till Wednesday

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starrer Deadpool & Wolverine emerged the highest Week 1 grosser among Hollywood movies released in India in 2024, amassing Rs 89.65 crore nett in its debut week, as per industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk.

The Shawn Levy-directed MCU comfortably beat Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which raked in Rs 58.25 crore nett in its first week in Indian theatres.

The superhero sci-fi movie has now emerged as the sixth highest grossing Hollywood film of all time in the opening week in India. Avengers: Endgame (2019) occupies the top spot with a collection of Rs 260 crore nett, followed by Avatar: The Way of Water (2022, Rs 193.6 crore nett), Avengers: Infinity War (2018, Rs 156.64 crore nett), Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021, Rs 148.07 crore nett), and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022, Rs 101.49 crore nett).

Deadpool & Wolverine registered an opening day collection of Rs 21 crore nett and maintained strong earnings throughout its opening weekend — Rs 22.65 crore nett on Saturday and Rs 22.3 crore nett on Sunday.

The R-rated MCU movie passed the Monday test, minting Rs 6.75 crore nett. It remained steady over the weekdays, adding Rs 16.95 crore nett to the earnings from Tuesday to Thursday.

Deadpool & Wolverine is having a blockbuster run at the box office globally, having minted USD 590 million worldwide till Wednesday (July 31). This includes USD 280 million in North America and an additional USD 310 million from the international markets, according to trade figures from Box Office Mojo.

The Ryan Reynolds-starrer is now the fourth highest grossing movie of the year globally. The top three grossers of the year so far are Inside Out 2 (USD 1.523 billion), Dune: Part 2 (USD 711 million) and Despicable Me 4 (USD 686 million).
