Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine team up against Charles Xavier’s evil twin Cassandra Nova in the latest trailer of the upcoming MCU film Deadpool and Wolverine, which also offers a glimpse of grudge-filled banters between the two mutants.
Dropped on Monday, the two-minute-38-second-long trailer begins with Jackman’s Logan sitting at a bar. Reynolds’ Wade Wilson aka Deadpool approaches him and greets him in classic Deadpool fashion with the words, “Hi, peanut,” which has left fans in splits. Deadpool asks him to accompany him for a mission which has not been disclosed. However, Logan turns him down immediately. A slight confrontation ensues which triggers Logan who can only stretch out half of his claws at the moment, while Deadpool puts a gun to his head.
“I’m about to lose everything that I ever cared about,” Deadpool tells a yellow suit-clad Wolverine, who says that it is not his problem. At that moment, Deadpool counters him and reminds him about the time he could not save his own world. “This Wolverine let down his entire world,” says Matthew Macfayden’s TVA bureaucrat Paradox in the trailer.
Subsequent scenes show Deadpool motivating Wolverine to save the world by making him recall his heroic acts in the past as “the X-Man”. The trailer also gives a glimpse at the film’s antagonist, Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova. We are treated to a gigantic ant-man mask which probably serves as Nova’s base. It hints at the film having MCU easter eggs scattered all around.
The trailer ends with high-octane action scenes of Deadpool and Wolverine fighting Nova and other villains, before jumping into what seems like a magical portal, hinting at the appearance of an MCU sorcerer.
“Found the guy who killed Bambi’s mom,” Reynolds wrote in the description of the trailer shared on YouTube.
The Red Notice actor also shared a fresh poster of the film on X (formerly Twitter). The picture shows Deadpool wielding his swords and forming a cross with them while Wolverine’s reflection falls on the metal. “Hang it in the Louvre,” he captioned the post.
Directed by Shawn Levy, Deadpool & Wolverine is slated to hit theatres worldwide on July 26.
