Deadpool & Wolverine sells one lakh tickets via advance booking in India

The Shawn Levy-directed movie features Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the lead roles

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starrer Deadpool & Wolverine has sold more than one lakh tickets via advance booking in India for Day 1, collecting Rs 3.53 gross, according to industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk.

The Marvel Studios movie, which marks the return of Jackman as Wolverine after seven years, is slated to hit theatres on July 26.

According to Sacnilk, as of 11am on July 22, Deadpool & Wolverine sold 1.04 lakh tickets across languages for a revenue of Rs 3.53 crore gross.

The English 3D version of the movie has sold the most tickets (58,027) followed by the Hindi 3D version (18,867). While the English 3D version generated a gross collection of Rs 1.9 crore, the Hindi 3D version contributed Rs 0.57 crore.

The English IMAX 3D version of Deadpool & Wolverine raked in Rs 0.54 crore gross for a sale of 8,352 tickets.

Among the states, Maharashtra led the way with a gross collection of Rs 60.45 lakh, followed by Delhi (Rs 43.76 lakh), Tamil Nadu (Rs 37.07 lakh) and Telangana (Rs 27.47 lakh).

As of now, the highest Hollywood opening day grossers in India post-pandemic are Avatar: The Way of Water (Rs 40.3 crore nett), Oppenheimer (Rs 14.45 crore nett), Fast X (Rs 13 crore nett), Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (Rs 12.60 crore nett) and Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One (Rs 12.27 crore nett).

Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as the witty superhero with a dark sense of humour in Deadpool & Wolverine. Hugh Jackman returns to his role as Wolverine and the duo team up to save the world.

The film, directed by Shawn Levy, also features Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Rob Delaney as Peter, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, and Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio.
