James Gunn has dropped a new motion poster of his upcoming David Corenswet-starrer film Superman, slated to hit theatres globally on July 11 next year.
“Look up. #Superman is only in theaters July 11,” the 58-year-old filmmaker wrote alongside the poster on Instagram.
In the poster, Corenswet dons the iconic Superman costume and takes off from the ground with full force. “Look up,” reads the tagline of the poster, which is set to an intense, uplifting score.
Along with the new motion poster, Gunn also shared another poster announcing that the teaser of the film will be dropped on Thursday.
Previously, Gunn had announced in July that they have officially wrapped up filming for Superman. In his Instagram post, Gunn extended his gratitude to the cast and crew with a nostalgic photo from the initial week of filming in Svalbard, Norway.
“And that’s a wrap,” Gunn began his note. “God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set - and for that I am forever grateful,” he wrote.
Corenswet, known for his role in The Politician, is playing the eponymous superhero alongside House of Cards actress Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane in the upcoming film. British actor Nicholas Hoult is set to play Superman’s arch-enemy Lex Luthor, while the rest of the cast includes Anthony Carrigan, Skyler Gisondo, Nathan Fillon, Isabela Mercad and Edi Gathegi.
Known for directing the Guardian of the Galaxy films, The Suicide Squad (2021) and the original Max series Peacemaker (2022), Gunn has also written the screenplay for the upcoming superhero movie.
Superman is co-produced by DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran, who has also produced Aquaman films and The Conjuring franchise.
