J D Chekravarthy makes his Telugu OTT debut with the Hotstar Specials crime thriller Dayaa that is produced by SVF Entertainment. The Pavan Sadineni directorial follows a freezer van driver Dayaa (played by J D Chekravarthy) who lives in a quaint village near the Kakinada port area. One night he stumbles upon a woman’s body in his van. Before he can take any action, an unidentified caller blackmails him, coercing him to safeguard the body until further notice. Burdened with anxiety, Dayaa fears the repercussions of involving the police and the outside world, from which he had previously sought refuge. Dayaa is the Telugu remake of the Hoichoi series Taqdeer, starring Chanchal Chowdhury.

Dayaa is a very special project for me as it marks my debut in the Telugu OTT space. At first, I was taken aback by the concept as it is not something you think of every day. It was not just the script that made me want to be a part of this story, but it was a series of inspiring moments in the story that fascinated me and only a director with great prowess is capable of that. I feel grateful to have received a layered and nuanced character like Dayaa for this milestone in my career. I can’t wait to see how viewers react to my character when the series releases on Disney+ Hotstar,” says J D Chekravarthy.

It is sure to keep the audience on the edge of their seats as it explores themes of justice, sacrifice, and the triumph of the human spirit.”

Starring J D Chekravarthy, Ramya Nambeesan, Vishnupriyaa Bhimeneni, Kamal Kamaraju, Josh Ravi and Eesha Rebba, the Telugu series streams from August 4.
