Srijit Mukherji is going to crank up the thrill quotient in his much-awaited Durga Puja release Dawshom Awbotaar, going by the first trailer that dropped recently.

Dawshom Awbotaar is a double prequel to two of Srijit’s previous films, Baishe Srabon and Vinci Da, combining the two key characters from the films in a first-of-its-kind cop universe in Bangla cinema.

The new story will bring together Baishe Srabon’s Probir Roychowdhury (played by Prosenjit) and Vinci Da’s Bijoy Poddar (played by Anirban Bhattacharya).

“Dawshom Awbotaar occupies a unique place in my heart, and I am eagerly looking forward to sharing it with the world. The trailer provides a tantalising glimpse into the intense and emotionally charged odyssey that awaits our audience,” said Srijit, who has given a completely new look to Jisshu Sengupta, who plays the antagonist — the character of ‘Dawshom Avatar’.

The trailer shows the two cops, Probir and Bijoy, teaming up to track down the person behind a series of murders in Kolkata. Jaya Ahsan plays a psychiatrist, who helps them in the investigation.

“Being a part of Dawshom Awbotaar has been a remarkable journey. Srijit has once again conjured cinematic magic, and this film pledges to be an unforgettable voyage,” said Prosenjit.

The film’s cinematography is by Soumik Haldar, while Anupam Roy has written the lyrics and composed the music. Indraadip Das Gupta has scored the background music.

Produced by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment, Dawshom Awbotaar will release on October 19.
