Two of the biggest Bengali blockbusters of 2023 — Dawshom Awbotaar and Raktabeej — will soon be available to watch from the comfort of your home, with one set for a digital debut and the other slated for a television premiere in February.
Srijit Mukherji’s cop universe actioner Dawshom Awbotaar will have its digital premiere this month on Hoichoi, while Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s spy thriller Raktabeej will be premiering on Star Jalsa. Both the films released in theatres during Durga Puja last year alongside Dev-starrer Bagha Jatin and Koel Mallick’s Jongole Mitin Mashi.
Prosenjit Chatterjee reprises his role as inspector Probir Roy Chowdhury in Dawshom Awbotaar. He is joined by Anirban Bhattacharya’s inspector Poddar, as they try to crack a case of serial killings in Kolkata in the early 2000s. The action thriller also features Jisshu Sengupta and Jaya Ahsan in pivotal roles. Dawshom Awbotaar will be streaming on Hoichoi from February 2.
Raktabeej — starring Victor Banerjee, Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty — is loosely based on the Khagragarh Blasts that rocked West Bengal in 2014. Victor Banerjee plays the president of India in this suspense thriller that recently completed 100 days in theatres. Abir plays IB officer Pankaj Sinha, who teams up with Mimi’s Sanjukta Roy, to nab a gang of extremists threatening to assassinate the president in in Raktabeej.
Raktabeej is slated to premiere on Star Jalsha on February 18 at 1pm.
