David Lynch has teamed up with his longtime collaborator Chrystabell for a music album titled Cellophone Memories, the 78-year-old filmmaker announced on Wednesday.
The veteran filmmaker has directed a music video of Chrystabell’s song Sublime Eternal Love from the album, which will release on August 2. The singer-actress earlier played FBI agent Tammy Preston on Lynch’s Twin Peaks : The Return Season 3.
Sharing the music video on their official Instagram page, record label Sacred Bones Studio wrote, “Artistically minimalistic and hypnotically compelling, the video for Sublime Eternal Love almost reflects an exoneration from a benevolent higher power and a reverence for the message of love and hope that it brings.”
Sacred Bones described the musicality of the song as “almost spiritual in tone and sentiment”. “Chrystabell’s vocal lines overlap and intertwine, creating a sonic mirage of gentle, warm vocals. The feeling of the song draws you in and carries you, steady in its simple yet deeply moving inflection,” the record label added.
Prior to the release of the video, Lynch had shared a teaser on X, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen. Something is coming along for you to see and hear! And it will be coming along on June 5.”
Speculations were rife by fans on X by fans about the upcoming project being a Twin Peaks sequel or a new movie. Lynch’s Twin Peaks, which came out in 1990, revolves around the investigation of the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer in the small town of Twin Peaks. FBI Agent Dale Cooper with the help of local sheriff Harry S. Truman uncovers the town’s secrets, encountering bizarre and supernatural elements on the way.
