David Lynch shares cryptic video message: ‘Something is coming along on June 5’

The last directorial venture of the 78-year-old American filmmaker was the limited series Twin Peaks: The Return in 2017

Filmmaker David Lynch has teased a special event scheduled for June 5 via a cryptic video posted on social media.

In a 21-second video shared on Monday, Lynch said, “Ladies and gentlemen, something is coming along…. for you to see and hear. And it will be coming along on June 5.”

Lynch offered no specific details about his upcoming project in the video. However, in an interview with Deadline earlier this year, he had revealed his interest in securing support for an animated project titled Snootworld, which he has reportedly been developing for two decades.

Lynch’s last directorial venture was the limited series Twin Peaks: The Return in 2017. He is known for his surreal, dreamlike films. Initially a painter,Lynch transitioned to filmmaking in the late 1960s. His debut feature Eraserhead (1977) gained a cult following.

Lynch received Academy Award nominations for Best Director for The Elephant Man (1980), Blue Velvet (1986) and Mulholland Drive (2001).

He received the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2006 and an Honorary Academy Award in 2019, while his Wild at Heart (1990) won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

The 78-year old American filmmaker is also a musician, painter, photographer, and author, with several albums and books. He has directed music videos and commercials. He founded the David Lynch Foundation in 2005 to promote transcendental meditation.
