Dakota Johnson’s Lucy deals with the aftermath of coming out as a lesbian in her 30s with the help of her lifelong friend Jane, played by Sonoya Mizuno, in the trailer of Am I Ok?, dropped by streaming platform Max on Monday.

The two-minute-37-second-long trailer shows the moment when Lucy understands that she has never been attracted to men. She breaks down emotionally after dealing with loneliness and the constant feeling of being left out. “I don’t know what makes me happy. I’m 32 years old,” Lucy says when she feels overwhelmed in one of the scenes. After she realises that she is a lesbian, Lucy opens up to Jane, who says that she knew it all along.

Eventually Lucy likes a woman in her office and worries about the complications that can arise due to dating one’s co-worker. The trailer ends with Lucy making a joke and breaking into laughter before asking Jane, “Am I okay?”

On Monday, the makers had dropped a character poster of Dakota from the film on Monday prior to the trailer’s release. “AM I OK? premieres on MAX June 6th,” Tea Time Pictures had written alongside the poster shared on Instagram.

Also starring Jermaine Fowler, Kiersey Clemons, Molly Gordon, Sean Hayes and Tig Notaro, the film first premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.

Am I Ok? is co-directed by Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne. Written and produced by Lauren Pomerantz, it is slated to premiere on Max on June 6.
