Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon-led heist comedy Crew crossed the Rs 100-crore mark at the global box office on its ninth day in theatres, the makers have announced on social media.
“That’s how we roll Flying into the 100 crore club with our Crew!,” Balaji Motion Pictures wrote this on Instagram with a poster of the movie. Tabu and Kriti Sanon also shared the news on their pages.
Crew is among the five Bollywood films to surpass the Rs 100-crore milestone worldwide this year. The other films to have achieved this feat are Fighter (Rs 358.89 crore), Shaitaan (Rs 201.65 crore), Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (Rs 141.29 crore), and Article 370 (Rs 104.6 crore).
Helmed by Rajesh A Krishnan, Crew began its box office journey with an opening day collection of Rs 9.25 crore nett. The heist comedy minted Rs 43.75 crore nett in the first week, followed by Rs 3.75 crore nett on Friday and Rs 5.25 crore nett on Saturday. It added another Rs 5.75 crore nett to its earnings on Sunday, taking the total domestic collection to Rs 58.54 crore nett.
However, Crew faces tough competition from the Hollywood blockbuster Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which has amassed Rs 72.25 crore nett in India so far. The monsterverse movie opened to a collection of Rs 13.25 crore nett and went on to mint Rs 57.75 crore nett in the first week. In its second week, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire earned Rs 3 crore nett on Friday, Rs 5.25 crore nett on Saturday and Rs 6.25 crore nett on Sunday.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has raked in USD 361 million worldwide, including USD 135 million in North America and USD 226 from international markets.
